Becoming a Voice Actor

At every convention or appearance I attend, I am asked at least once what steps somebody should take to become a voice actor. The truth, is that nobody can really answer that. If you ask every single working voice actor you will get a different path every time. So there is not a specific answer that will give you the road to take to become a working voice actor.

Having said that, you can improve your chances by educating yourself as well as possible. There are many other people who are better suited to teaching you these things than I am. I am going to list as many resources as I can below. Please take the time to read through all of them if voice acting is something you are passionate about. The more you know, the better chance you have of not missing your chance when it comes. The simplest information I can give is, it's all acting. Being able to do impressions or voice matching in great but if you can act, you can voice act. So make sure you train to act first. Stage, screen, improv, voice, it does not matter. Just learn your craft.
